This is actually a matter of some concern, as Apple are supposed to know how to make systems that "just work". I read that Chrome will download, but similar result: no link to iFiles or Dropbox or even iTunes. I'm not optimistic about icab either, I'm afraid. I think I may have tried that some months ago with no success.
If anyone has actually downloaded an MP3 successfully, could they post exactly what to do? That would be great. The other acceptable solution would be an app to record what is playing through the sound system of the iPad. There is at least one for Mac OS, which works without difficulty.

I went to the download section of the web browser, I tapped on the music file and then another menu box opens and there is an option to save file or open file I saved the music files in a folder I setup in the app, Notability. I have Notability files automatically save to DropBox, but for some reason, DropBox didn't save these audio files as mp3 audio files. Thanks for the reply, and the detailed description.
